Replacing a Lost Registration

Lost Registration Cards
Those little pieces of paper are easy to misplace. If you've lost your registration card, or if it's been damaged or stolen, you can get a replacement by calling your county office.
Make sure to take the following:
- Drivers license
- Payment of $2.20
Lost License Plates
In Colorado, there's always a chance you might lose your plates trying to pull all-terrain moves your way to a remote trailhead. If you've lost a license plate, or if it has been damaged so badly you can't read it, you'll need to get new plates.
Go to your county office with the other license plate (or anything you have left), along with your driver license and registration to prove that you own the plates. The office will cancel your original plates and issue you new ones. Fees vary depending on county.
Stolen License Plates
In most cases, a lost license plate is due to loose screws, but on certain occasions, theft is simply undeniable.
If you are sure that someone has stolen your plates, you must fill out an Affidavit for Lost or Stolen License Plates and take it to your county office, along with your driver license and registration card.
